You can keep a list of emergency numbers in a notebook, or you can memorize them. One time I lost my phone, and it was tough to remember the numbers of my dear and near ones. You should keep all of your essential items, such as your passport, camera, and medication, in your day bag.
Always keep a torchlight in your bag. Lavatories in many places are poorly lit. Avoid using unlit restrooms. My friend keeps a taser pistol with her when she travels alone. Rajasthani people are warm, friendly, and helpful. However, you need to be cautious with touts who only want to fleece you.
