Around 60% work on the roads has been done and peripheral roads are being constructed, he added. The officer also said that a small bridge that will connect the link road of Aitiana with the road to the under-construction Airport has to be constructed.

Noida Airport's passenger terminal work completed, exterior finishing work commences

The upcoming Noida Airport is making significant progress towards its operational deadline. The final floor level of the passenger terminal has been completed, and façade work has started. The air traffic control tower has reached its full height, and the runway is being paved. Construction activities are exempt from pollution control measures, ensuring the project stays on track.

According to him, work on the International Airport inside the Air Force station is yet to be started. A team has been constituted for works like widening of taxi track, construction of link taxi track etc. Although work on the terminal building is almost complete, finishing touches will be given before the inauguration.“We expect to get the project completed by March-end” the official said. Meanwhile, officials the private company engaged in work on the terminal building said that around 97% work is complete.

“The walls are being painted and some fabrication work is being done in the front of the building. Besides, there is some railing work to be done. Civil works, electricity work and air conditioning is complete. Conveyor belts have been installed at arrival and departure,” said the engineer of the private company.

Meanwhile, AAI officials said that they wanted the project to be completed as soon as possible so that they could shift operations from Sahnewal to Halwara airport. They added that Halwara International Airport would have a longer runway for operation of bigger aircraft and also facilitate landing at low visibility with the ILS (Instrument Landing System) installed here.

Meanwhile, many residents, including industrialists are anxiously awaiting completion of the project.

“Every city of the size of Ludhiana in the country has an airport. We have been waiting for a proper airport for 30 years. Sahnewal Airport is there but it is not reliable as flights cannot operate from there in the winter due to lack of a system for landing at low visibility. We have to invest a lot of money on picking up customers from Chandigarh airport and to take flights from there. The international airport will benefit a lot of people, including industrialists and students in Ludhiana,” said Mridula Jain, a city-based industrialist.
