In a much-awaited event scheduled for September 17, 2023 after the recent launch of Bharat Mandapam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will initiate the Phase 1 of the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), named Yashobhoomi, in Dwarka, New Delhi.

Spanning across a massive project area of over 8.9 lakh square meters, with a total built-up area exceeding 1.8 lakh square meters, Yashobhoomi is poised to become one of the world’s largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities. Yashobhoomi will feature one of the world’s largest Exhibition halls, covering an area exceeding 1.07 lakh square meters. These halls will serve as venues for exhibitions, trade fairs, and business events, connected to a grand foyer with a distinctive copper ceiling filtering in natural light through skylights. The foyer will house various support facilities, including media rooms, VVIP lounges, cloakrooms, visitor information centers, and ticketing services.

The heart of Yashobhoomi is its Convention Center, which spans over 73 thousand square meters. It comprises 15 convention rooms, including the Main auditorium, the Grand ballroom, and 13 meeting rooms, with a combined capacity of accommodating 11,000 delegates. The Convention Center features the country’s largest LED media facade, and its plenary hall can seat up to 6,000 guests. This hall showcases an innovative automated seating system, enabling flexible floor configurations. The Grand Ballroom can host around 2,500 guests, with an additional open area for 500 attendees. The 13 meeting rooms, spread across eight floors, cater to a variety of meeting scales.Yashobhoomi also demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability, boasting a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system with 100 per cent reuse, rainwater harvesting, and Platinum certification from CII’s Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). Connectivity: a major plus
Adding to its accessibility, Yashobhoomi will be connected to the Delhi Airport Metro Express line through the inauguration of the ‘Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25’ metro station. This new station will have three subways, connecting the metro to the exhibition halls, convention center, Central Arena, Dwarka Expressway, and the foyer of the future Exhibition halls of Yashobhoomi.

As part of this development, Delhi Metro has increased the operational speed of trains on the Airport Express Line, reducing travel time significantly. The journey from ‘New Delhi’ to ‘Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25’ will take approximately 21 minutes, enhancing the connectivity and convenience of the upcoming MICE facility.
